SMS and WhatsApp for online and Facebook sellers in Bangladesh

Triggers send a Bangla or English SMS when an order is placed, confirmed, shipped or delivered, through local gateways. Templates and logs keep every message on record, and OTP is available for the storefront.

Most order confirmation in Bangladeshi online retail happens by message, not email. A customer who ordered on Facebook expects an SMS when the parcel is booked and another when it is out for delivery, and a seller who sends them gets fewer failed deliveries.

The detail that decides whether this works is encoding. A Bangla message that arrives as boxes on the customer's phone is worse than no message, so Unicode handling and a gateway that actually delivers in Bangladesh matter more than the size of the feature list.

What goes wrong for online sellers

Everyday problems in this trade, from the industry guide.

  • Orders scattered across Messenger and Sheets

Every order is copied from a chat into a spreadsheet by hand. Addresses are wrong, phone numbers are mistyped, and when two people update the sheet at once, an order is quietly lost.

  • COD statements never reconcile

The courier pays out in lumps days after delivery. Matching each parcel to a payout, less charges and returns, takes an evening a week and the difference is usually written off as a mystery.

  • Returned parcels eat the margin

Customers refuse delivery or do not answer the phone. Return parcels come back weeks later, are not counted back into stock, and the delivery charge has been paid twice for nothing.

  • Fake and duplicate orders

Without an SMS or call confirmation, a share of orders are never real. They are packed, shipped and returned, and the courier fee is lost each time along with the packing.

SMS confirmation and delivery alerts

How SMS & WhatsApp handles it.

What you get

The parts of SMS & WhatsApp that matter most here.

  • Bangla Unicode encoding

The ERP detects whether a message fits the GSM 7-bit set or needs Unicode, then shows the character limit, 160 or 70 per part, the number of parts and the estimated cost before you send. No more truncated Bangla messages.

  • Trigger rules per event

Turn on automatic SMS for order created, confirmed, shipped, delivered or cancelled, web order received, payment received, payment reminder, low stock, purchase order created, leave approved and payslip ready, each with its own template and on-off switch.

  • Sixteen gateways supported

Configure Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink, SSL Wireless, Reve, BulkSMSBD, BoomCast, ElitBuzz, KhudeBarta, AlphaNet, AjuraTech, BDBulkSMS, Route Mobile, Twilio, Vonage or AWS SNS with your own API credentials and sender ID. Switch gateway without touching a single template.

  • Templates with variables

Write templates in Bangla or English with placeholders for customer name, order number and amount, and keep separate templates per event. Staff sending a one-off message pick a template and the values fill in from the record.

  • Bulk campaigns to customer lists

Send a promotion or Eid greeting to a filtered list of customers, schedule it for a sensible hour, and watch processed, success and failed counts as the queue works through the list in the background.

  • Delivery logs and balance

Every SMS is logged with mobile number, gateway, encoding, parts, unit rate, total cost, provider message ID, status and error text. A balance ledger per gateway records top-ups and spend so you know when to recharge.

A working day for online sellers

The sequence this trade actually runs, from the industry guide.

  1. Order arrives from page or website

Website orders land in the ERP automatically. Messenger orders are keyed in by staff with the customer's name, phone number and delivery address.

  2. Confirm by SMS or call

An order placed SMS goes out, staff confirm doubtful orders by phone, and confirmed orders move to packing with stock reserved against them.

  3. Pack and book the courier

Shipments are created against orders. Steadfast bookings go through its API; for Pathao, Paperfly or CarryBee the consignment number is entered by hand. The tracking reference is stored on the order.

  4. Deliver and update the customer

Tracking status updates the order and a delivery SMS goes to the customer. Refused parcels are marked for return so they are expected back.

  5. Reconcile COD and returns

Courier statements are uploaded and matched to delivered orders in courier payments, charges are recorded, and returned parcels are checked back into stock.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

Do Bangla SMS arrive correctly?

Yes. Bangla Unicode encoding is handled, and messages go through Bangladeshi gateways such as Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink and SSL Wireless rather than an international route, with delivery logs so you can see what actually landed.

Can messages send automatically at each stage?

Yes. Trigger rules fire on events such as order placed, payment received, shipment and delivery, using templates with variables so the message names the customer and the order.
