Courier management for online and Facebook sellers in Bangladesh

Create shipments from orders and book Steadfast through its API with tracking inside the ERP. Pathao, Paperfly and CarryBee are set up as couriers with manual consignment entry and statement upload for COD reconciliation; API booking for them is on the roadmap.

For an online seller in Bangladesh the courier is not a supplier, it is the cash collection department. The order is not revenue until the parcel is delivered and the settlement arrives, and a meaningful share never gets that far.

Which means the number that matters is not orders shipped but cash on delivery collected against cash on delivery booked, per courier, per week. Sellers who cannot see that figure are usually carrying more unsettled money than they think.

What goes wrong for online sellers

Everyday problems in this trade, from the industry guide.

  • Orders scattered across Messenger and Sheets

Every order is copied from a chat into a spreadsheet by hand. Addresses are wrong, phone numbers are mistyped, and when two people update the sheet at once, an order is quietly lost.

  • COD statements never reconcile

The courier pays out in lumps days after delivery. Matching each parcel to a payout, less charges and returns, takes an evening a week and the difference is usually written off as a mystery.

  • Returned parcels eat the margin

Customers refuse delivery or do not answer the phone. Return parcels come back weeks later, are not counted back into stock, and the delivery charge has been paid twice for nothing.

  • Fake and duplicate orders

Without an SMS or call confirmation, a share of orders are never real. They are packed, shipped and returned, and the courier fee is lost each time along with the packing.

Steadfast by API, others by entry

How Courier & Delivery handles it.

Create shipments from orders and book Steadfast through its API with tracking inside the ERP. Pathao, Paperfly and CarryBee are set up as couriers with manual consignment entry and statement upload for COD reconciliation; API booking for them is on the roadmap.

What you get

The parts of Courier & Delivery that matter most here.

  • Steadfast booking from the order

One click on a billed website order creates the Steadfast consignment with the customer's name, phone, address and COD amount, then stores the consignment and tracking ID on the order. Failed pushes show the error on the order so staff can retry.

  • Shipments for any courier

Create shipments for Pathao, Paperfly, CarryBee or a local van with sender, recipient, package count, weight, declared value and special instructions. Enter the courier's consignment number and the shipment follows the same status path as an API booking.

  • Tracking updates

Every status change is logged with a timestamp, from picked up and in transit to delivered, failed delivery or returned. For Steadfast the ERP pulls the latest status on demand and a scheduled job marks website orders delivered; other couriers are updated manually.

  • COD statement reconciliation

Upload the courier's payment statement as Excel or CSV. Steadfast, Pathao, Paperfly and CarryBee layouts are built in, plus a generic one. Each row is matched to a shipment and the collected amount, delivery charge and COD charge are calculated.

  • Payout posting to accounts

Mark a processed statement as deposited and SORS ERP posts the journals: courier expense against the courier's payable for delivery and COD charges, and cash against receivables for the net amount received. Each statement posts once, so nothing doubles up.

  • Shipping classes and calculator

Define shipping classes with weight limits and per-district rates. The calculator takes weight and recipient district and returns the charge, so staff can quote delivery cost before confirming a Messenger order.

A working day for online sellers

The sequence this trade actually runs, from the industry guide.

  1. Order arrives from page or website

Website orders land in the ERP automatically. Messenger orders are keyed in by staff with the customer's name, phone number and delivery address.

  2. Confirm by SMS or call

An order placed SMS goes out, staff confirm doubtful orders by phone, and confirmed orders move to packing with stock reserved against them.

  3. Pack and book the courier

Shipments are created against orders. Steadfast bookings go through its API; for Pathao, Paperfly or CarryBee the consignment number is entered by hand. The tracking reference is stored on the order.

  4. Deliver and update the customer

Tracking status updates the order and a delivery SMS goes to the customer. Refused parcels are marked for return so they are expected back.

  5. Reconcile COD and returns

Courier statements are uploaded and matched to delivered orders in courier payments, charges are recorded, and returned parcels are checked back into stock.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

Can I book a Steadfast parcel from the order?

Yes. Steadfast is API integrated, so a consignment is booked from the order and tracking updates are pulled back in. Pathao, Paperfly and CarryBee use manual consignment entry, with API booking on the roadmap.

What about parcels that come back?

Returned consignments are recorded against the shipment, so returns are visible next to deliveries when you reconcile the courier statement rather than appearing as a mysterious gap in the settlement.
