Mushak forms explained
What each Mushak form is for, who has to keep it and when. Every page says plainly which forms SORS ERP produces and which it does not.
These pages describe the Mushak forms under the VAT and SD Act 2012 and the VAT and SD Rules 2016 in general terms. Formats and dates are revised by NBR circular, so confirm the current position with the NBR or your VAT consultant before acting on anything here.
Each page also states what SORS ERP does with that form. Three labels are used and they mean what they say: produced means a finished document or register comes out of the software, data available means the figures are all there and reportable but the prescribed layout is not printed, and not available yet means the module behind it is on the roadmap. SORS ERP does not connect to the NBR and does not submit returns on your behalf.
The everyday forms
The ones almost every VAT registered business meets each month.
- Produced by SORS ERP
Mushak 6.3: the tax invoice you issue with every taxable supply
Mushak 6.3 is the tax invoice a VAT registered supplier issues at the time of supply. Your buyer needs it to claim input tax rebate.

Mushak 6.1: the purchase register every VAT registered business keeps
Mushak 6.1 is the input side of your VAT records: every purchase, with the supplier BIN and the VAT paid, in the order it happened.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 6.2: the sales register behind your VAT return
Mushak 6.2 is the output side of your VAT records: every supply you made, in order, with the VAT charged on it.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 9.1: the monthly VAT return
Mushak 9.1 is the monthly VAT return: output tax on what you supplied, rebate on what you bought, and the difference paid or carried forward.
Adjustments and movements
When a value changes after invoicing, when goods move without a sale, and when a buyer withholds.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 6.7: the credit note for a reduced supply value
When the value of a supply falls after the tax invoice went out, Mushak 6.7 is how the VAT is adjusted.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 6.8: the debit note for an increased supply value
The mirror of the credit note: when the value of an invoiced supply goes up, Mushak 6.8 adjusts the VAT with it.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 6.5: moving goods between your own premises
The challan for moving your own goods between your own premises, where nothing is sold but something clearly moved.
- Data available, form on the roadmap
Mushak 6.6: the certificate for VAT deducted at source
When a withholding entity deducts VAT from your bill, Mushak 6.6 is the certificate that proves it was deducted and deposited.
Contract manufacturing
Where goods are produced for another party rather than sold.
- Not available yet
Mushak 6.2.1: the sales register for goods made under contract

Mushak 6.4: the challan used in contract manufacturing
The challan that documents goods produced under a contract, where the maker and the owner of the goods are different parties.
Higher value trade
The separate register for larger transactions.
