Mushak 6.5: moving goods between your own premises
The challan for moving your own goods between your own premises, where nothing is sold but something clearly moved.
Mushak 6.5 covers transfers of goods between premises belonging to the same taxpayer. Nothing is sold, so there is no tax invoice, but the goods are on a truck and the movement has to be documented.
Businesses with a godown outside the shop, a second outlet across town or a central warehouse feeding branches deal with this constantly. Without a transfer document, stock at either end is unexplained and a check on the road has nothing to look at.
How central warehousing and branch registration are treated depends on how your BIN and premises are registered. Confirm your position with your VAT consultant.

What SORS ERP does with it
SORS ERP holds the data and reports it, but does not print the prescribed layout.
SORS ERP records the movement itself: stock operations and transfers between warehouses move quantity and valuation from one location to another, with a document trail and an audit log on both sides. What it does not print today is the prescribed 6.5 layout. The transfer record and its printable document are available now; the prescribed form is on the roadmap.
Where businesses get caught
The errors that cost money at audit time.
-
Branch transfers treated as sales
Invoicing your own branch inflates both sales and purchases and puts VAT where none is due. A transfer is a transfer, and it belongs on a transfer document.
-
Stock moved on a phone call
Goods that leave the godown on a verbal instruction show up as shrinkage at one end and a surprise at the other. The transfer record is what makes the two ends agree.
Questions
Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.
Do I need paperwork to move stock to my own second outlet?
Yes. A transfer between your own premises is documented on Mushak 6.5 rather than a tax invoice, because there is no supply and no VAT to charge, but there is a movement of goods that both ends have to account for.
How does SORS ERP handle branch transfers?
Stock transfers move quantity and valuation between warehouses with a document and an audit trail at both ends, and the receiving branch confirms what arrived. The prescribed Mushak 6.5 layout is not printed today; that is on the roadmap.
