Reports and analytics for service businesses and agencies in Bangladesh
Standard financial reports, a custom report builder, scheduled reports by email and Excel or PDF export. AI-assisted reporting can produce a summary on request for accounting, sales or expenses.
The question a services firm cannot usually answer is which clients are actually profitable. Revenue per client is easy; the cost of servicing them is spread across salaries, expenses and time that nobody attributed to anything.
Cost centres and a report builder are the practical route to an answer. It is not a perfect job costing system, and we would rather describe it accurately than oversell it, but it puts revenue and directly attributed cost side by side, which most firms currently cannot do at all.
What goes wrong for service businesses
Everyday problems in this trade, from the industry guide.
-
Quotations and invoices in Word
Each quotation is a copy of the last one with the client name changed. Numbering breaks, terms differ between staff, and the accepted quote has to be retyped as an invoice with fresh mistakes.
-
Retainers billed late or missed
Monthly retainers, hosting fees and maintenance contracts are invoiced when someone remembers. Cash flow suffers, clients pay late because the bill arrived late, and revenue lands in the wrong month.
-
Staff expenses on scraps of paper
Transport, client entertainment and small purchases are claimed with receipts in an envelope. Approvals are verbal, reimbursements are delayed, and nobody knows the true cost of a project.
-
Payroll and leave in a spreadsheet
Salaries, leave balances and income tax deductions are tracked in Excel by one person. Tax slab changes each financial year are applied by hand and payslips are typed one at a time.
Reports your accountant will accept
How Reports & BI handles it.
Standard financial reports, a custom report builder, scheduled reports by email and Excel or PDF export. AI-assisted reporting can produce a summary on request for accounting, sales or expenses.
What you get
The parts of Reports & BI that matter most here.
-
Custom report builder
Choose a data source, pick columns, add filters, group and order the rows, and save the definition. Run it any time with new dates, share it with colleagues, and export the result to CSV, Excel or PDF.
-
Standard reports per module
Ready-made reports for sales, purchases, inventory, accounting, POS, HR and expenses: stock status, purchase status, attendance summary, headcount, leave, overtime, payroll summary, punctuality and more, each with filters, date ranges and export.
-
Report library and presets
Saved reports live in a library organised by category. Presets store a report's filters, so the month-end sales summary, the weekly stock-out list and the daily collection sheet run with one click by anyone with permission.
-
Scheduled delivery
Schedule a report daily, weekly, monthly or on a custom interval, and deliver it by email to a list of recipients, to the dashboard or as a download. Last run time and status are shown so a silent failure is noticed.
-
Excel and PDF export
Every report exports to CSV, Excel or PDF. Export history records who exported what, in which format and when, which matters when a VAT officer or auditor asks where a figure came from and which file they were given.
-
Dashboard widgets and KPIs
Define KPI metrics with a data source, calculation method, target, unit, frequency and low and high alert thresholds, then place them as widgets on the dashboard. Analytics views compare periods so trends show without a spreadsheet.
A working day for service businesses
The sequence this trade actually runs, from the industry guide.
-
Send a quotation
A new client request becomes a quotation from a template with your standard terms. When accepted it converts to a sales order without retyping.
-
Deliver and invoice
The invoice is issued from the order, with Mushak 6.3 where the client needs a tax invoice. Payment by bank or bKash is recorded against it.
-
Approve staff expenses
Staff submit expenses by category, managers approve in the workflow, and approved claims are marked paid in bulk and posted to the right cost centre.
-
Post recurring entries
Recurring journals for rent, retainers and subscriptions post on schedule, and bank transactions are imported and reconciled against the ledger.
-
Run payroll and close the month
Leave and attendance feed payroll, tax is deducted by slab, payslips go out, depreciation runs on assets and the accounting period is locked.
Questions
Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.
Can I build a report my accountant will accept?
The standard financial statements come from the ledger, and the custom report builder covers the operational questions around them, with Excel and PDF export and saved presets so a report is built once and reused.
Is there job costing?
Not as a dedicated module. Cost centres let revenue and directly attributed costs be reported per project or client, which answers most of the question, but it is not full job costing and we would rather say so.
