Excel import and export with SORS ERP

Excel is how data gets in and how reports get out, which makes it the practical route from whatever you use now.

Almost every migration into an ERP in Bangladesh starts as a spreadsheet, whether the data came from Tally, from another ERP, or from the spreadsheet itself. Import is the feature that decides whether a migration takes a week or a month.

Export matters just as much afterwards, because accountants, auditors and bank relationship managers all want something they can open. A system that cannot produce a clean Excel file creates work for the people who are least able to refuse it.

What is actually built

Stated plainly, including the parts that are not finished.

SORS ERP imports items, parties and opening balances from Excel or CSV, and exports every report to Excel and PDF with an export history recorded. Import templates are provided so the column mapping is known before you start rather than discovered halfway through.

How to set it up

In order. Each step assumes the one before it.

  1. Download the import template

Start from the provided template for the record type you are importing, rather than reshaping your own file and hoping.

  2. Clean the data first

Duplicate item names, missing units and inconsistent party names cause more failed migrations than the software does. This is the step worth spending time on.

  3. Import masters before balances

Items, customers and suppliers first, then opening balances that refer to them.

  4. Check a sample against the source

Pick twenty records across the file and verify them by hand before importing the rest.

  5. Import opening balances at the cut-off date

Party balances, stock quantities and valuations as at the first day of a VAT period.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

Can I migrate from Tally using Excel?

Yes, and that is the usual route. Tally exports cleanly to Excel, and masters plus opening balances are what you actually need. Most businesses keep the old system readable for prior years rather than importing history.

Can every report be exported?

Reports export to Excel and PDF, with an export history recorded, so what left the system and who took it is auditable.
