What is RMA?

An RMA is the authorised process for taking an item back: logged against the original sale, moved into a separate stock state, and tracked until it is repaired, replaced or refunded.

In Bangladesh

In electronics retail the faulty unit usually has to go back to a distributor or brand before the customer gets a replacement, so the shop is holding someone else's problem and the customer's trust at the same time.

An example

A faulty monitor is logged against its serial, moved into RMA stock so it cannot be sold by mistake, and a vendor claim is raised. Three weeks later the replacement arrives and the customer gets an SMS.

In SORS ERP

SORS ERP logs RMA requests against the sold serial, moves the unit into RMA stock, raises the vendor claim and tracks it to resolution, with status updates that can be sent by SMS.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

How long should an RMA take?

That depends on your distributor rather than on you, which is exactly why the status needs to be visible. A customer who can be told where their item is will wait; one who cannot will call every second day.
