What is Barcode?

A barcode is a machine readable label carrying an item code, scanned to identify a product without typing. In retail it is what makes a counter fast and accurate.

In Bangladesh

Imported goods often arrive with a manufacturer barcode already, while locally packed and loose goods need one generated. Most shops end up needing both, printed in house.

An example

A counter scanning 20 items takes well under a minute and picks the right variant every time. The same 20 items typed by name take several minutes and produce the occasional wrong size on the receipt.

In SORS ERP

SORS ERP includes barcode templates and bulk barcode generation, with scanning at the POS counter and on stock operations.

Can I print barcodes for loose goods?

Yes. Generate a code for the item and print labels from a template, which is the normal arrangement for repacked and loose goods that arrive without a manufacturer barcode.
