What is Point of sale?
Point of sale is where a retail transaction is completed: the counter software that scans items, takes payment, prints a receipt and reduces stock in one action.

In Bangladesh
A POS that only prints a cash memo leaves the VAT position, the stock and the ledger to be reconstructed later. A POS wired into the same system as the books does not.
An example
At six in the evening four counters are running. Each cashier is checked in to their own counter with its own cash float, and at closing each prints a Z-report and balances their own drawer before leaving.
In SORS ERP
The POS in SORS ERP covers outlets, counters, check in and counter sessions, held bills, barcode scanning, cash and mobile financial services payments, returns, end of day and Z-reports. It has no offline billing mode, so the counter needs a working connection.

Questions

Can I use a tablet as a POS terminal?
The POS runs in a browser, so any device with a modern browser and a connection works, including a tablet. A barcode scanner that behaves as a keyboard and a receipt printer are the two pieces of hardware most counters add.
