ZKTeco biometric attendance with SORS ERP

A LAN sync agent pushes punches from ZKTeco devices into the ERP continuously, feeding attendance and payroll.

ZKTeco devices are the common attendance fixture on Bangladeshi office and factory walls. They record punches reliably and store them on the device.

The usual failure is what happens next. Punches sit on the device until somebody exports them to Excel at month end, by which time nobody remembers which of the gaps were approved leave and which were missed punches, and payroll gets done under time pressure with incomplete information.

What is actually built

Stated plainly, including the parts that are not finished.

SORS Technology provides a LAN sync agent, a small Windows service, that reads punches from ZKTeco devices on your network and pushes them to the cloud continuously. Attendance logs, shift assignments, corrections, overtime and punctuality analysis all run from that data, and the payroll run draws on it directly.

How to set it up

In order. Each step assumes the one before it.

  1. Note your device details

Model, IP address on your LAN and the device password, for each device.

  2. Install the sync agent

Install the agent on a machine that stays on and can reach the devices over the network.

  3. Connect the agent to your tenant

Authenticate it with a tenant API token so punches land in your account.

  4. Map devices to locations

Assign each device to an office location so punches are attributed to the right place.

  5. Match employees to enrolment IDs

Link each device enrolment ID to the employee record, which is the step that decides whether attendance is usable.

  6. Watch one payroll cycle

Run a period with the old process alongside the new one before trusting it, and compare.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

Does the device need internet access?

No. The devices talk to the sync agent over your local network, and the agent is what reaches the internet. That means the devices stay on the LAN where they belong.

What happens when the internet is down?

Punches stay on the device and in the agent, and sync when the connection returns. A short outage does not lose attendance data.

Can attendance corrections still be made?

Yes. Attendance corrections, overtime, leave and time off requests all have their own workflow, so a missed punch is corrected with an approval trail rather than by editing a spreadsheet.
