What is ERP?

An ERP is one system covering the parts of a business that share data: accounting, inventory, sales, purchasing, people and reporting. The point is not the feature list, it is that a sale updates stock and the ledger in the same action.

In Bangladesh

The practical test here is whether the system produces the local documents. Software that handles accounting well but cannot issue a Mushak 6.3, book a courier or send a Bangla SMS leaves the same gaps that Excel did.

An example

A shop sells an item at the counter. In one action the stock reduces, the Mushak 6.3 is numbered and printed, the revenue and output tax post to the ledger and the customer's points accrue. That single action is what an ERP is for.

In SORS ERP

SORS ERP is a web based, multi tenant ERP with around 30 modules and per tenant module switches, built for Bangladesh. Screens are in English today, with Bangla supported as data, in receipts and in SMS, and Bangla onboarding and support; a Bangla interface is on the roadmap.

Is an ERP worth it for a small business?

It depends on whether your problem is bookkeeping or coordination. If one person handles everything and the books are fine, accounting software may be enough. If stock, counter, dues and compliance are each in a different place, the coordination is the problem an ERP solves.
