In Bangladesh
Where a lot of trade runs on credit and collection happens by phone, the ageing report is the collection plan. The 90 day column is where working capital quietly goes.
An example
A distributor with BDT 40 lakh outstanding finds BDT 9 lakh of it is past 90 days and sits with four parties. That is a collection plan for the week, rather than a number to worry about.
In SORS ERP
Aged receivables and payables are standard reports in SORS ERP, drawn from the same invoices and payments as the party ledger, and due reminders can go out by SMS from the same data.

What ageing buckets should I use?
Current, 30, 60 and 90 days is the common arrangement and works for most trades. What matters more than the buckets is that somebody looks at the report weekly rather than at year end.
