What is Goods receipt note?
A goods receipt note records what physically arrived against a purchase order: quantities, condition and any shortfall. It is the document that turns an order into stock on hand.

In Bangladesh
Receiving against the delivery challan without checking it against the order is how short deliveries become supplier credits nobody ever claims. The GRN is where the discrepancy is caught while the driver is still there.
An example
A purchase order says 200 cartons. The truck brings 188. Recording the receipt as 188 rather than as the order means the bill is matched to what arrived, and the 12 carton difference is a conversation with the supplier that week.
In SORS ERP
SORS ERP runs requisition, purchase order, goods receipt and bill as separate steps, with serial numbers and batch details captured at receipt and stock valuation updated on finalisation.

Questions
Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.
Should I record the receipt or the bill first?
The receipt, because it records what physically arrived. The bill is then matched to the receipt rather than to the order, which is what catches shortfalls before they are paid for.
