What is Payroll period?

A payroll period is the span one payroll run covers, normally a calendar month. Processing it means calculating gross pay, deductions and net pay for everyone in that period and then disbursing it.

In Bangladesh

Attendance, overtime and leave all have to be settled before the run, which is why payroll tends to be a three day scramble in businesses where attendance lives on paper.

An example

A unit with 400 staff closes attendance on the last day of the month, processes on the first, approves on the second and disburses on the fifth. Each stage has a record, so a query about one payslip does not reopen the whole run.

In SORS ERP

SORS ERP runs payroll periods through process, approve, disburse and finalise, drawing attendance from records and biometric devices, applying salary structures and components, and producing payslips as PDFs.

Questions

Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.

Can payroll be run for part of a month?

Periods are defined by you, so a mid month joiner or leaver is handled within the period rather than requiring a separate run. Final settlement covers the leaving case specifically.
