What is Journal entry?
A journal entry records a transaction as equal debits and credits against accounts. It is the atomic unit of double entry bookkeeping, and every report in an accounting system is a view over the journal.

In Bangladesh
Businesses moving from a cash book often think of entries as receipts and payments. The shift to double entry is the point where a party ledger, a trial balance and a defensible VAT position all become possible.
An example
A sale of BDT 10,000 plus BDT 1,500 VAT posts as a debit to receivables of BDT 11,500 and credits to sales of BDT 10,000 and output tax of BDT 1,500, with a second entry moving the item cost out of stock.
In SORS ERP
Manual, recurring and bulk journals are available in SORS ERP, and account mapping rules generate entries automatically from sales, purchases, stock movements, returns and payroll so the ledger is not maintained by hand.

Questions
Answered plainly, including where the answer is no.
Do I have to make journal entries by hand?
For most transactions, no. Account mapping rules generate the entries from sales, purchases, stock movements, returns and payroll. Manual journals are for the things that have no source document, such as accruals and corrections.
